Last Will and Testament of DIEDERIK NIEMAN VAN CABO DE GOEDE HOOP "siekelijk te bedde leggen" but of sound mind.
Drawn up on 13 day of April 1747 at 8 oçlock in the evening in Stellenbosch.

He bequeathed to his eldest son Jan Nieman his riding horse, a brown mare with a "kol" on the forehead, as well as a saddle and other equipment in order that he may use it for his work as a Dragoon. The residue in equal shares to all his children:
1. Jan - about 24 years of age
2. Lysbeth Margriet - 20 years
3. Johanna Catharina - 18 years
4. Claas - 15 years
5. Pieter - 13 years
6. Christina - 12 years
7. Diederik - 9 years
8. Frederik - 5 years
9. Mietjie - 3 years

The Will drawn up in 1747 was cancelled and the following Last Will and Testament, drawn up in Stellenbosch on the 6 day of May 1765, took its place: The Testator, DIEDERIK NIEMAND, was again ill in bed but of sound mind.

"....Zoo verklaar der Testateur als nooijt getrouwd geweezen zynde no geene ouders in't leven hebbende aan wien enige geregtelijke makinge beskuldig is, tot zyne enige en universeele erfgename te noemen en te instiuteer gelijk doen by deesen, de Vrije Bastaardinne Elizabeth Voogd, nevens hare seven kinders in name: 1. Jan Nieman 2. Elizabeth Margaretha Nieman getroudt met de Landouwer Cristoffel Beukman 3. Johanna Catharina Nieman getroudt met de Metselaar Philip Petrus Spies 4. Claus Nieman 5. Pieter Nieman 6. Frederik Nieman 7. Maria Nieman.

Marriage: He was apparently not married to the mother of his children whom he refers to as '«i»de vrije bastarden«/i»' (the free bastardess) Elizabeth Voogd
