  Married: The only source for this marriage is from Shelagh Spencer "British Settlers in Natal, 1824-1857". Information provided by email from Shelagh as far as I know the volume containing "M" is as yet unpublished. I have not been able to find any other evidence of this marriage. On the other hand a newspaper article (see notes for Robert Hamilton Macpherson) refers to a 12 year old son in 1875 which must have been from a previous marriage?)
