CHRISTIAN RABE or RABIE from Leipzig arrived at the Cape in 1723 as a soldier. Became a freeburgher in 1725. He was a miller, resident at Drakenstein.
In the report of Governor de la Fonteine of 1731 he is listed with his wife and one child with the comment "«i»Is Een Tappers Knegt die Wijnig Heeft«/i»". (Is a ? servant who has little [«i»Knegt«/i» usually means Farm Labourer or servant])
In the 1733 Muster Roll they are listed in the Stellenbosch District as «i»Christiaan Rabe & Margaretha Pijl«/i»
