  The 1841 Census has him living with his family in Princes St in the parish of Christchurch Spitalfield (note ages were often rounded to the nearest 5 in the 1841 census) John Bamber 30 Warehouseman Louisa Bamber 30 Louisa Bamber 5 Mercy Bamber 5 John Bamber 30 months Eliza ? 15 Female Servant The 1851 census has him living with his family at 7 Princes St in the parish of Christchurch Spitalfields. Living at this address were: John Bamber, 43 - Clerk to Silk Manufacturer Louisa Bamber, 41 - Washer Louisa Bamber, 17 - at home Mercy Bamber, 15 - at home John Bamber, 12 - Scholar William Bamber, 6 - scholar Richard Bamber, 2 - at home Alice Bamber. 6 mths - at hom Mary Golborn, 16 - servant The 1861 census has him living at 39 Herbert St in the parish of St Leonard Shoreditch (as the nursery rhyme says "When I grow rich, say the bells of Shoreditch...") The household consisted of: John Bamber, 53 - Silk Brokers Clerk Louisa Bamber, 51 - Wife Louisa Bamber, 27 William Bamber, 16 Richard H, 12 - Scholar Alice M, 10 Emily H, 8 Living at the same address were Ebenezer and Eliza Harrington. Ebenezer was a silk weaver and Eliza was a knitter. The 1881 census has the remaining family resident at 19 Meldney Rd Islington. The family then consisted of John Bamber, head, a widower of 72, Retired Silk Warehouseman, Louisa Bamber, unmarried daughter of 47, no occupation, and Alice M Bamber, unmarried daughter of 30, no ocupation. His probate record says that he lived at 39 Herbert St, New North Road, Hoxton but that when he died he was at 19 Mildmay Road, Hoxton. He left an estate of more than 2000 pounds streling.
