  The dates against all of their children are birth dates, these are taken from copies of their Family Bible, kindley given by Miss Marjorie Tate of Catton, Allendale, a descendant of Robert, born 1832. From the Family Bible, John and Eleanor had twin sons, still born on 17th April 1845. Also they adopted Mary Jane, the daghter of Smith and Mary Clemitson on Sunday 6th August 1854, Mary Jane was born at Allendale on 29th May 1845.
