      There is evidence that he was unimpressed by his sister-in-laws marriage to a low born sculpture, a letter from him to his sister Lydia writes of a letter from their sister Mary that it was "terminated by the vile ill-looking attesting scrawl of her husband who has at last gratified all our curiosty by letting us see his handwriting" (Quoted in John Graham Lough 1798 - 18 76 A NorthuMbrian Sculptor"
