  PRIVATE Went to Canada Source: Andrew O Thompson's Genealogy The «b»1891 Scotland Census«/b» shows a 5-year old Maurice living at 108 High St, Montrose, County: Angus, Scotland with his father,Tho[ma]s Lyall (40), and brothers: David Watson Lyall (10) & Frank Lyall (8). Father, Thomas, was at this point a photographer having been a draper previously. (Also at that address were: Chrishuie Mowat 16 Nelly Coull 23) His mother Anne Lyall (35) and sister, Rhoda Lyall (9) were at the home his grandmother, Anne Lundie (59) thirty five miles away at 4 Tay Terrace, Liff and Benvie (Dundee) on the day of the census taking. The «b»1901 Scotland Census«/b» shows 15 yr old Maurice as a photographer's apprentice, living with his parents at "Milnamaer" in Montrose, Angus, Scotland. «b»1908 «/b»when crossing the border into the United States he gave his last address as Hamilton, Canada, his occupation as photographer, and that he was going to Buffalo, New York.
