  PRIVATE Name taken from the birth record of son, John Tasker b 1753 No wedding or banns can be found for Andrew Tasker and Bessie Reid, and the parish registers only start recording the mother's name in 1750, when Bessie Reid is added. It is possible that all the children were born to Bessie Reid but this would have resulted in 33 years of continual childbearing, which is not impossible, but unlikely. The other possibility is that Andrew Tasker had two wives and that the first wife died between 1747 and 1750 when Bessie starts to be added to the record, possibly to make the distinction. This is supported by the record for a marriage between an Isobell Smith and Andrew Tasker in Cargill, (five miles west of Coupar Angus) in 1723 a little over a year before the birth of the first child registered to Andrew Tasker in Coupar Angus. There is a third possibility and that is that there was a second Andrew Tasker having children in the same time frame which did not overlap in dates with this Andrew, but there is no supporting evidence for this. There are no other "Andrew Tasker"s born in all of Perth within 1680 and 1735. Andrew's father is thus deduced by lack of any other recorded possibilies. One prefers supporting evidence but poor people leave few records that last for 300 years. Even headstones seldom survive that long. The Burial record in the CouparAngus Parish Register for 2 April 1772 says: «i»Andrew Tasker in Kethick died aged 72 years. «/i»[Image in Takser file]
