      Husband of Aletta Catherina.
    • Thomas arrived in Swellendam in 1823 to join his uncle Joseph, the founder of the well known Swellendam commercial firm of Barry & Nephews. He settled at the mouth of the Breede River at Port Beufort, where he managed the coastal trade of the firm, and regulated the shipment of farm produce to Cape Town and beyond. He is the only Barry «i»stamvader«/i» to be buried in Swellendam. He is buried in the NGK Churchyard
