• Notes

  The third member of the Barry family to travel to South Africa, he was an attorney/notary, appraiser and translator. He practised law in Swellendam - later managed the legal aspects of the firm of Barry & Nephews, and in 1860 opened the Cape Town branch of the London-South Africa bank.
