      1925 - Assistant, Domestic Science Department. 'To cope with the developments of the Domestic Science courses an additional teacher was brought out from Scotland, Miss RI Stuart, who was particularly welcome as the «b»daughter of the Rev William Stuart«/b», the veteran missionary of Burnshill. She came to Lovedale from Scotland, fully trained, and with missionary instincts in her blood; she is proving an able and conscientious teacher and we feel stronger for her presence amongst us.'

      1939 Vice-Superintendent of Girls' School

      1941 At the end of the year she retired on pension, after sixteen years of devoted service. A daughter of the late Rev William Stuart, an honoured missionary of the Scottish Church at Burnshill.
      She was «b»at school in Edinburgh when her mother died«/b»; and thereafter she kept house for three brothers, two of whom were killed in the war 1914-1918 .
      Completing her training she joined the Lovedale staff. In all her work she set before the girls a very high standard. Her quiet influence was greatly appreciated in the Boarding Department.

      1947 She returned to teaching in order to help out during a time of a teacher shortage.

      1948 Principal of the Girls' Industrial School

      1950 She again retired and with her departure the teaching of domestic science came to an end and handwork took its place.
