  PRIVATE Name taken from the baptismal record of son, John Tasker. So this is sure. I have searched long and hard for a birth or marriage record for "Bessie" Reid, asuming her name was probably "Elizabeth" - and found nothing. However another record (the birth of her daughters: Christian, Jean) has her a "Betterish Reid" - a strange name indeed, and one I have never seen before. On scanning the entire Coupar Angus Parish Records I have found the Baptismal record for "Beatrix", and I am working on the «u»assumption«/u» that this is our "Bessie". Baptismal record for 25 July 1718 reads: «i»Thomas Reid Weaver in Balgershow [Balgersho] had a child baptized in the front of the Congregation called Beatrix". «/i»Death records are not generally available in Scotland(Feb 2009) although they are apparently going to be soon, so I was delighted to find this record: «i»24 Jan 1777 Parish Register of Coupar Angus. Bettrice Reid in Kethick died aged 58 years. [Image in Reid File] «/i»This record states her age which confirms that I do have her birth date.
