- There is a birth record of a "Thomas Andrew" on 17/06/1764 in Rattray, which is about 5 miles from Coupar Angus, on the other side of Blairgowrie. This is the only Thomas Andrew to be born in the time frame, in the county of Perth, so is most likely (no way to be sure) to be our ancestor. His father is the only parent to be recorded, and was also named Thomas Andrew. [image in Andrew file]
His daughter's death certificate [Helen] describes him as a "Cloth merchant", while all the birth entries in the parish register for his children give his address as "Causewayend", the same street where his son-in-law, Andrew Tasker, had his blacksmith shop.
Marriage registration reads:
