Hi Veronica,
Scotspeople are having another free index only search for 1865, and came across something odd.
Mrs Sprunt,,,, That's Ann Andrew, widow of Robert Sprunt. – That bit is normal.
1865Tenant OccupierMRSSPRUNT DWELLINGHOUSE GROUND FLOOR BURGH OF BROUGHTY FERRY KING STREETMONIFIETHANGUS (FORFAR) COUNTYVR88 / 18 / 249
David Andrews, is David Marshall Andrew, who lived / owned numbers 38 & 40 North Church Street when he died.
Still not sure if this is the same place called "Church Street, Liff Parrish" during the 1841-51 census ???

James Andrews ??? That is the odd bit,,, it should be the father of David. – But this James emigrated c.1855 (ten years previous)
,,, it could be the the brother of David. – But this James emigrated with, or near the same year of his father (James) in c.1855.
,,, it could fit being James Andrew snr., he died after this valuation roll, when he died in 1874 he appears to have left no Will.
,,, James jnr. (or James Sprunt Andrew), was old enough, and had the finance to own something. – So it could be either ???.
,,, Old Victorian Gazettes have a, James Andrew, buying up random shares at Sandhurst in gold & mining in 1872-74.
,,, 1875 James bought his Auctioneers Licence at Sandhurst with sons David and Charles forming James Andrew, & Co.
Q. With all the Valuation Rolls you have looked at in the past, do any list the Residence of the Owner/s ??
Some of the (Andrew) Perthshire ones list the Parish, or Town of the Owner , , , but not if Angus are set out the same ??
Anyhow, I had better stop pointing out coincidences.
Kind Regards,
stew
