- The 1664 Hearth Tax levied by which was introduced in England and Wales by the government of Charles II in 1662
http://www.hearthtax.org.uk/
shows an Edward LADBURY and Henry GOFFE both too poor to own a hearth,
so exempt from the tax,
but both residing in the Northgate Borough of Rochester.
So without further proof, this is an «u»assumption«/u», that a daughter, of Henry Goff/ Goffe became the wife of John Ladbury.
However, Barbara Balfe's research showed that Katherine Goff was the daughter of William Goff of Elam Kent - no resources given.
