  PRIVATE Noted in "The Burchmores in Victorian Natal" (manuscript by Mary Taylor) that when he first emigrated, he stayed with his cousin Helen (Nell) Clark in Ladysmith. He married Fanny Tandy (daughter of late Dr Tandy) in Ladysmith before leaving for Johannesburg, According to British Settlers in Natal 1824 - 1857, he arrived in 1883, he was a butcher in Ladysmith in 1887, and an accountant in Boksburg at the time of his marriage.
