However in a letter from Nora Stone to Ian Thompson written 12 August, 1978, she says ,"...«i»Alexander (last heard of in S America in 1920s)." [Could this have been a slip of the pen and could she have meant "North America?]
«/i»"Alexander Lundie" died on, 22 Dec 1930 in Madison Township, Jackson County, Ohio. Information provided by Mrs Alexander Lundie [Olive] of R1 Thurman, Ohio. this document contains the names of his parents, confiming that these records do relate to the correct man.
The image of the form of the «i»U.S., Headstone applications for Military Veterans, 1925 - 1963«/i» shows that Private Alexander B Lundie who died 22 Dec 1930, served in the 7th Company, United States Volunteers Signal Corps in the Spanish War
There is also a Civil War Index card for an Alexander B. Lundie, widow, Olice A. Lundie, with a claim filed on 5 Jan 1931 in Ohio, who served in 7 Co[mpany?] U.S. V. Sig[nal?] Corps. It appears that this person claimed as an Invalid in Dec 1920, and a wife by the name of Olive claimed widow's pension in 1931. However our Alexander was only born during the Civil War, so this the record is not yet explained.. [PS Veterans of the Spanish -US War of 1898 are for soem reason listed as "Civil War" veterans, see below]
