    • «b»1841 Scotland Census«/b» gives 13 yr old Alexander's occupation as " Stationer Ap[prentice] " and he cannot be found in later Scotland Census records.
In 1841 he was living at home in Maule Street, Arbroath with his parents and siblings:
      Helen Lundie born abt 1812,
      James Lundie born abt 1814,
      Margaret Lundie born abt 1818,
      Ann Lundie born abt 1824,
George Lundie born abt 1831. «tab»

I could find no further record for Alexander Lundie: no census records, no death record either. Sadly this explains the situation:

Arbroath: «i»On Monday evening, a young man of the name of Lundie, son of Mr John Lundie, teacher Maule Street put a period to his existance by cutting his throat with a razor. The young man has been in a desponding state of mind for some time past.«/i»

Newly release death records show that Alex Lundie, bookbinder, of St Vigeans was buried in row 16 "laid before David Lundie" in Arbroath Abbey. [3 Sept 2009]
