Notes - PRIVATE
- According to the «b»1841 Scotland Census«/b», James birth date is given as 1816. Copy of the actual register is not available to check.
The «b»1851 Scotland Census«/b» give his occupation as "Bookseller Stationer - Master Employing 2 Men ".
At this time he is 36 years old and living with his 68 year old mother, Janet who is listed as the head of the household, and siblings: Helen Lundie 38, Margaret Lundie 32, Jessie Lundie 31, and George Lundie 20
at 40, Maule Street, Civil parish: St Vigeans, County: Angus.
On the «b»6 Dec 1853«/b» he married Anne Honeyman. The Banns was registered at both St Vigeans and Barry, in Angus, for that date.
By the time of the «b»1861 Scotland Census«/b» James now 47 was living on High Street, Arbroath and gave his occupation as a stationer [transcribed as "staturier"]. The family had increased by four children: Jessie Lundie (6), Ann H Lundie (5), John Lundie (3) and Robt H Lundie (1). His wife's parents: Jessie Honeyman (53) and Robert Honeyman (57), a retired Steamboat Stewart, were also living with them. Business must have been fairly good as they employed a servant, Isabel Black (17).
Seven years later, in «b»1868«/b», James Lundie died at the age of 54 in St Clement, Dundee City of a bowel obstruction. His death ceertificate was signed by a brother-in-law by the name of Donaldson.
In the intervening period he had produced three more children, James (1862), William (1865) and Georgina (1868). Poor Anne must have been in dire straits at the age of 37, with seven children to provide for, and having just given birth herself. It is not clear why they moved to Dundee, Anne's home town, but she continued to live there and run her husband's stationary business.
