"Halsted, Fleetwood: Accountant: b. 14th June, 1864 at Blackheath, Kent, England. S. of Vice Admiral G.A. Halsted; m, 26th April 1890 Gertrude Mary Bamber; 8 children. Educ. Royal Naval School, New Cross. Came to colony July 1882. Hobbies; Gardening and sports. Ass: "The Nook", Burger St. and Club St. Maritzburg. Hon. Sec and Treasurer Maritzburg Cricket Union. Played for the old Maritzburg County C.C. 24 years ago. still playing int he Senior League for the Zingari. Played 17 years in Senior Football in Natal and O.R.C. Originator in conjunction with S.W. Leake of Central Tennis Club."
