  PRIVATE She was known as "Tottie" because she was so small and petite, according to her daughter Anna. My Ouma van Zyl, who died when I was 6 so I have very few memories of her, having only travelled from Natal to the Cape twice in my young life at that time. I have no memory of the first visit obviously, and very faint memories of the second just before she died - in fact we got the news while travelling back to Natal and stayed in a hotel while my father Pieter (her son) travelled back for the funeral.
