He may be the Johannes Wilhelm van Zyl who appears in the 1920 UK Medical Directory living at 14 Buccleugh Place Edinburgh, having graduated in 1917. A Dr J.W. van Zyl is listed as a passenger from Plymouth to Cape Town aboard the SS Homeward on July 31, 1918.
