  PRIVATE He was born on his parents farm Oudekraal in the Robetson District. When he married in 1874 he was farming at Boschjesmaus, district Robertson. He farmed at Thornlands, Buffeljagsrivier, Swellendam district. In 1865 the farm «i»Thornlands«/i» was owned by Johannes Zacharias Human (a1b5c3d1e7) the Commissioner of the Swellendam municipality. He and his wife died childless so it seems reasonable to assume that the farm was then sold to Abraham Albertus van Zyl. The last two children, Susanna Johhanna and Geertruida Johanna Anna are not listed on either his death notice or his wife's. They are listed in Ou Swellendam Families by Marena van Hemert. Geertruida died young and is buried on the farm Thornlands, district Swellendam, as is her namesake, the youngest child of Frederik Jacobus, who also died young.
