• Notes

  Willem van Zyl met Christina van Loveren in Amsterdam. She was a Protestant. After her marriage she converted to the Roman Catholic faith, as evidenced by an inscription in the baptismal register of the Vier Heemskinderen, Haarlem, which noted she had converted to the faith of her husband. Christina van Loveren did not have the same last name as her parents. Her parents used patronymics (Juraensz = son of Juriaen, Jans = daughter of Jan) which were going out of fashion during the 17 century
