Notes - PRIVATE
- from the Baptism register of the Drakenstein Church in 1703:«i»
"den 9 Desember Gideon d'Vader Willem van Zeijl, de moeder Christina Van Loveren"
«/i»
From the marriage register of the Drakenstein Church,:
«i»"Den 17 November 1729
Gideon van Zeyl van Cabo de Goede Hoop, burger aan Drakensteijn J.M.
met
Marya Elisabeth van Eeden van Cabo voor (illegible) J.V."
«/i»They are listed in the Stellenbosch District in the 1733 Muster Roll.«i»
«/i»He is found in the 1760 «i»Opgaafrol«/i» (census) living in the Swellendam district with his wife, one son and three daughters. These are probably the four youngest children, since the elder brothers are listed separately in the «i»Opgaafrol«/i». They have 1 horse, 60 cattle, and 400 sheep.
The baptism of his children are found in the records of the Tulbagh NG Kerk after 1742 - if they lived in the Overberg it is possible Tulbagh was the closest NG Kerk.
Gideons death in 1775 is recorded in the Swartland Parish Registers, so it seems likely they farmed in the Tulbagh area
