"The young man my sister was friendly with joined the Army and they were married on one of his leaves at the court, and she continued living with my mother. He is the one whom we know as Uncle Herbie Noble.

"A very sad thing happened while I was at Woodlands. My sister Maude's husband, Herbie Noble, died on March 4«sup»th«/sup». He had been in hospital for so long and had a very trying illness, so it seems strange; Maude and I are left widows so nearly the same time. "
