    • The diary entry of George Batchin Thompson, Willie's father, of 2 Dec 1901 reads:
«i» "At 3:30am the Master called to Him our Chief Earthly Treasure, our Darling Willie"
«/i»The previous 3 weeks of his diary contain no entries at all so there is nothing to suggest that Willie was ill, or what the ailment was. The diary for the following day is empty, and there is no mention of his burial in the diary.

Willie's grave is alongside that of his parents in the family plot in Bizana.
Granny kept his birth date in her book of family birthdays.

The letters from the Thompson family back in Edinburgh to George and Lizzie at the time of young Willie's death are most moving to read. They are among the letters preserved by George, and of which there are digital images.
