  PRIVATE Met Uncle George through Aunt Mary when they were both students at Hugenot College in Wellington. A vivacious, outgoing person she immediately sized up the situation when she took me out of boarding school for the Easter Holidays, and took me off to buy (on sale) a pinafore that was fashionable, and probably saved me much humiliation as a result, as I was definitely a 'country bumpkin' in Cape Town. I'll always remember her kindness to me. She periodically suffered from depressions resulting in hospitalization. .
