  PRIVATE Attended the University of Pietermaritzburg where she took a science degree, and met Jackie Botha. After their marriage they lived in greater Johannesburg on a small holding called 'Innisfree' at Modderfontein, and worked until retirement at the South African Poliomyelitis Research Institute, that became SA Institute of Virology. The last few years of her life she lived near her son, Bokkie, in Prince Albert, Cape.
