CLAUS. - Meran in Tyrol. Burgher and woodcutter (1667). Sentenced (1667) to 3 years' hard labour for stabbing a man during a brawl. (CJ 725: 83.) ~ 10.5.1670 Beeltje Fredriks of Amsterdam. One son, Claas. (MR. Vrye Lieden of 1667; CJ 1123, p. 6; Bdlr. 1:52.) His son was a smith at Stellenbosch. Adam Tas (p. 22) calls him "de kreupele Vulkaan" - from Merano, in Sud-Tirol.
