• Notes

  According to de Villiers and Pama "Genealogies of Old South African Families", he died in Hanover, and his death notice states that he died on the farm «i»Dwaalfontein«/i», District Hanover. In "Ou Swellendam Families, deel 3" Marena van Hemert lists several additional children. However, these additional children appear in neither de Villiers and Pama nor the Death Notice of Johannes Wilhelm. Additionally, assigning the additional children to this couple creates a problem - this would mean a brother sister marriage! Therefore I have gone with the list in de V & P and the Death Notice, with the addition of Gertruida Cornelia Margaeretha who does not appear in either the Death Notice of de V and P, but for whom I have found a baptism record in Familysearch..
