    • Stamvader: Josué Cellier, born. ca. 1667 in Orléans (France). Agriculturist, vine dresser and carpenter Arrived at the Cape Saturday 21 August 1700 on the ship «i»Reygersdaal«/i», with his wife Elisabeth Couvret, born 1676 in Orléans.

      Josue and Elizabeth first settled on the farm «i»Het Kruys Pad«/i» near present day Brackenfell, where they lived until at least 1709. In January 1708 it is recorded that "«i»ten huijse van Josua Sellier gelleegen aant kruispad tusschen de bottelerije en tijgerbergen«/i»" 12 persons "«i»zaaten en dronken«/i»" (12 people were sitting and drinking at the house of Josue Celliers situated on the crossroad between Bottelary and Tygerberg). A free black who owned land, Pieter Harmenz, known as Brasman, accused one of the guests Jacob Bourbonnais, that he stole his whip. A skirmish resulted in which Brasman stabbed Bourbonnais with a knife. Brasman was tried and sentenced to banishment from the Cape for life.

      In December 1713, he purchased the farm «i»De Orléans («/i»57 morgen«i»)«/i» in Paarl (Drakenstein). In 1715 he and his wife appear in the membership role of the Drakenstein Church «i»"Jossue Sellier en syne vrouw Elizabeth Couvret"

      «/i»Josue died in 1721 leaving his widow with 10 children between the ages of 4 and 20«i». «/i»
