- «b»Gerrit WILLEMS«/b» came to the Cape 1690 in the time of Governor Simon van der Stel. In 1685 the directors of the VOC, decided to privatize agriculture. They offered land and free passage to people wanting to emigrate to the Cape.

He came from Leeuwarden, in Friesland, Noord-Nederland. His occupation was given as "«i»Kalkbrander en Veeboer«/i»". On 9 April 1691, in Cape Town he married «b»Maria CORNELISSE«/b» Her parents were Cornelis Claasen and Catharina van Malabar.
Gerrit Willems married again in 1716 to «b»Johanna «/b»(«b»Anna«/b»)«b» van WYK«/b», baptised 13 Junie 1688, daughter of Willem van Wyk and Catharina Hildebrandt.
