- Lucy's father, Mark, died in 1879 when Lucy was about 9 years old.
In«b» 1881«/b», when she was 11years old she recorded as a visitor at the home of her aunt, Francis, living in Ladbury Cottage, St Margaret's, Rochester.
Her mother had re-married (to William Skelton). The youngest son, Mark Ladbury, from her first marriage is living with them, now 9yrs old, as is a new child by William Skelton, Jesse H Skelton.
In «b»1891«/b» «b»William Skelton«/b» had died and «b»Lucy«/b» was living with her mother, «b»Charlotte Skelton«/b», at 27 Morden St, St Margaret's, Rochester, her brother, «b»Mark,«/b» and their two half sisters, «b»Jesse«/b» and «b»Emily«/b».

20th September 1900«/b» Lucy became the executer of her aunt Frances's will:
"«i»… I give, devise and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my estate effects and property of every description~ (after payment of my debts and funeral and testamentary expenses) unto my niece Lucy Ladbury her heirs executors administrators and assigns absolutely and I appoint the said Lucy Ladbury sole EXECTRIX of this my will…"

In the «b»1901 England Census «/b»Lucy's name«b» «/b»has been transcribed incorrectly as "«b»S«/b»adbury" but it records that Lucy was living with her half sister, «b»Emily Skelton«/b» in the house inherited from her aunt, «b»Charlotte Hill«/b», in Strood. Lucy was 32yrs of age and they had a lodger, Thomas Harris (20 yrs old).
In «b»1902 «/b»Lucy maried, «b»Frederick Charles Brown«/b», a shipwright working in Rochester/chatham dock yards.
In «b»1911 the English Census «/b»shows Lucy Brown and her half sister, «b»Emily Skelton«/b» (29) living with her husband Frederick Charles Brown at 9 Queen Street, Rochster Kent.
