- Frances was the daughter who never married but somehow retained possession of the family inheritance, Ladbury Cottage until it was sold. In «b»1841«/b», aged 20 yrs old Frances lived in the Cottage with her parents and her five surviving siblings . By «b»1851, «/b»as her father had died the year before, only she and her mother were living at the cottage, and working as charwomen, while the Coveney family were living in the second half of the dwelling. The Coveneys were her half first cousins for they shared a grandmother, Sarah Hull, whose second husband had been William Coveney.
By «b»1861«/b» even the youngest bother, Mark, had moved out, and was married, with a daughter, and living at St Margaret Street. Frances was still Living at Ladbury's Quay, Rochester, Kent and was listed as a fisherwoman in the census.
By «b»1871«/b» Margaret (79yrs old) was listed as a fisherwoman, and Frances as a fishnet maker. Both were living at the cottage, the address of which is now given as "the Esplanade".
In «b»1891«/b» Frances was living in the, now almost derelict, Ladbury Cottage, aged 70, and her older brother, William, was living in the "boathouse". What became of Frances between the time the house was sold to the City of Rochester in ... and the time of her death is not known.
