    • In 1841 Charlotte was living with her mother at Ladbury Cottage. The house was divided into two dwellings at this stage, the other half being occupied by the Coveney family.

In 1851 Charlotte was 32 years old and working as a housekeeper to the Hodder family at 31 Union Street in Rochester. The head of the family of six was John Frances Hodder, who at 50 was a«b» «/b»customs collector. They must have been quite well off as they had two servants.

In «b»1865«/b», at the age of 45 Charlotte married Thomas John Hill who was 49 years old, in Strood. Thomas came from a prolific, long line of residents of Rochester that can be traced back into the early 1600's in the St Margaret Church Registers.

When she died Charlotte owned 103 (formerly of No 28) Montford Rd, Strood. In her «b»1897«/b» will Charlotte states that her personal effects and all her real estate are to go to her sister, Frances Ladbury, and on Frances' death, to her nephew, Mark, son of her brother Mark. This will and the title deeds for the property are in the Medway Archives. I have a copy of the will.
